THE SUZUKI METHOD

A positive and productive way to learn...
More than 50 years ago, Dr. Shinichi Suzuki realized the implications of children

learning their native language with EASE. Applying the same principles of language

acquisition to the learning of music, Dr. Suzuki called his method the mother-tongue approach.
Benefits of this method include:

EVERY CHILD CAN LEARN
Just like anyone can learn their mother-tongue naturally at their own pace,
any child can learn music.

CULTIVATING ENVIRONMENT
Environment plays a big part. The mother-tongue approach is based on the language
the child hears every day.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND THE SUZUKI METHOD
It is important that the teacher, parent and student work together harmoniously
for the best of the child.

ENCOURAGEMENT
We create a healthy relationship between the student and their music so
that they will enjoy their lessons.

LISTENING
Similar to language, we naturally learn music by hearing it over and over again.

REPETITION
Just like any new word a baby learns, music becomes clearer and easier when it is
repeated several times.

DELAYED READING
We read after we know how to talk.  Learning music is similar.

REVIEW
We enhance our technique with review pieces that are already very familiar. This way we can focus on a higher level of playing than simply doing the notes.
