Four Tips
For Starting
Music Lessons!

Start Lessons At The Age That's Right For Them

We are often asked what the right age is to start lessons, and while this is usually around 5-6 years of age, every child is unique. It depends on your child’s ability to focus as well as follow instructions.

If you have questions we recommend asking a teacher to find out more about your child's specific needs. A trial lesson is also a wonderful way to discover if your child is ready and excited to learn music. It's a fun, low-pressure opportunity to see how they respond to instruction.

Think About Your Music Style

Learning is easier and more fun when you're learning the songs you love.

What music do you or your child enjoy listening to?

What are your/their favorite songs?

Look For A Teacher That's A Good Fit

Think about the types of teachers your or your child responds to best , as well as the learning environment you or they will thrive in. They may be best motivated in a

one-on-one lesson or a class with their peers.

At In Tune our teachers will develop a rapport that will build a positive environment for growth. You can take a look at our teacher profiles online here.

Don't Worry If You Don't Have An Instrument!

Your child will need to practice at home, so if you don't have an instrument, the school may be able to loan you one. We can also help you with where to rent or buy an instrument.
